Stephan Meissner has been living and working as a visual artist in Berlin since 2009. Born in Bonn in 1989, he developed his artistic approach through classical graffiti stylewriting. His engagement with letters, systems of order, and predominantly typographic rules forms the foundation of his work to this day.
Meissner's works emerge from a clearly defined formal language, characterized by straight lines and strong contrasts. The choice of tape as a central working material is not a formal restriction, but a deliberate decision: every line is the result of a choice — between order and disruption, control and deviation.
Many of his works are site-specific room installations — conceived for a particular space, its architecture, and proportions. Some develop over weeks of planning; others emerge spontaneously in direct dialogue with the location.
